The ISCAR 3398982 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking and machining applications. It features a 0.25-inch cutting diameter, a 1.25-inch length of cut, and a 4-inch overall length with a 0.25-inch shank diameter. The three-flute geometry with a 45-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. A diamond-like carbon (DLC) finish reduces friction and extends tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The submicron grain carbide substrate delivers edge strength and wear resistance. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers of this tooling.
This end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations in vertical and horizontal machining centers. The right-hand cut, right-hand spiral flute configuration is the standard orientation for most CNC milling setups. Variable index spacing reduces harmonic chatter during high-feed passes, making it appropriate for finishing cuts in alloy steels, stainless steels, and hardened materials. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry directly into workpiece material without a pre-drilled pilot hole.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill for use in standard 1/4-inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and hydraulic or shrink-fit toolholders on CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder to the minimum engagement depth required for the holder type before torquing the retention mechanism. Verify runout with a dial indicator after mounting to confirm concentricity within acceptable tolerance for the intended operation.
