The ISCAR 3398423 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill from the ECI-5-VF series, designed for high-performance milling in demanding material applications. It features a 3/8-inch diameter, a 0.0600-inch corner radius, and five flutes with a right-hand spiral and right-hand cutting direction. The tool carries an AlTiCrSiN PVD coating, which provides thermal and wear resistance suited to aggressive cutting conditions. With a variable index geometry and extended reach configuration, it is built to handle both roughing and finishing operations in a single setup. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments rely on this tool for consistent, repeatable performance.
The 3398423 is designed for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Its submicron carbide grade and AlTiCrSiN coating make it particularly effective in high-heat, high-load conditions common in aerospace, die and mold, and general machining applications. The single-end, straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance fits standard toolholders and collet-style workholding setups. It is suited to CNC machining centers running demanding cycles where tool life and surface finish consistency are critical.
Designed for use with standard straight-shank toolholders. The 3/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance is compatible with collet chucks and hydraulic toolholders accepting that shank diameter. Part of the ISCAR ECI-5-VF series (manufacturers catalog number ECI-5 .375-1.C.06VF2.5).
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom personnel. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing or seating the tool in the toolholder. Verify shank seating depth and runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts, as improper seating in the holder can accelerate edge wear. Follow machine tool manufacturer specifications for maximum RPM, feed rate, and depth of cut for the workpiece material.
