The ISCAR 3398411 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for demanding material removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Carrying the ECI-5-VF series designation, it features a 3/4-inch diameter, a 0.03-inch corner radius, and 5 flutes with a variable index geometry that reduces harmonic chatter during aggressive cuts. The AlTiCrSiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection for extended tool life in high-heat cutting environments. The submicron carbide grade substrate supports both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool, reducing setup changes on CNC machining centers and manual mills alike.
This end mill is suited for medium-length reach applications in ferrous and difficult-to-machine alloys. With a 2.25-inch length of cut and a 5-inch overall length, it handles deep pocket milling, shoulder milling, and contouring passes in steel and superalloy components. The straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance mounts directly into standard end mill toolholders. Right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting orientation match the majority of CNC milling setups. Its extended-reach geometry makes it practical on workpieces where shorter tools cannot clear the fixture or part profile.
Designed for use with standard straight-bore end mill toolholders accepting a 3/4-inch shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), superalloys and titanium (S), and hard materials (H) per ISO material classification. Part of the ISCAR ECI-5-VF series.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer is disabled before loading or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder bore and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut, and confirm coolant lines are directed appropriately since this tool does not feature through-coolant capability.
