The ISCAR 3398398 is a 5-flute corner radius end mill from the ECI-5-VF series, designed for high-performance milling in demanding materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Built from submicron-grade solid carbide and coated with AlTiCrSiN via a PVD process, this tool delivers extended wear resistance and thermal stability under aggressive cutting conditions. It features a 1/4 inch cutting diameter, a 0.03 inch corner radius, and a 1/2 inch length of cut. The variable index geometry supports both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool, reducing setup time and tool changes on the floor.
This end mill is suited for precision milling applications in job shops, aerospace, and general manufacturing environments. The short flute length and extended reach configuration make it effective in pockets, slots, and contoured surfaces where rigidity and corner accuracy are critical. The right-hand flute direction and straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance are compatible with standard toolholders used in CNC machining centers. It is a single-end, right-hand cutting tool with a normal pitch spiral flute and no chipbreaker.
Designed for use with standard toolholders. Part of the ISCAR ECI-5-VF series. The manufacturers catalog number is ECI-5 .25-.5C.03VF2. Primary workpiece material classifications: P (Steel), M (Stainless Steel), K (Cast Iron), S (Superalloys and Titanium), H (Hard Material).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and power is locked out before mounting or removing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturers specifications. Verify runout at the tool tip before beginning a cut, particularly in tight-tolerance or finish-pass applications.
