The ISCAR 3398377 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for demanding metal removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It features a 1/2-inch diameter, a 0.015-inch corner radius, and five flutes with a variable index geometry that reduces harmonic chatter during aggressive cuts. The AlTiCrSiN PVD coating provides high heat resistance and wear protection, extending tool life in high-speed and high-temperature cutting environments. Part of the ECI-5-VF series, this end mill is rated for both roughing and finishing operations from a single tool setup. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers specify this geometry when surface finish and edge integrity both matter.
The 3398377 is suited for use in vertical and horizontal machining centers where extended reach is required. The 1-5/8-inch length of cut and 1-5/8-inch reach length allow access to deeper pockets and stepped features without requiring a long-reach adapter. The 4-inch overall length and straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance provide secure, repeatable seating in standard toolholders. The right-hand spiral flute direction and right-hand cutting direction are consistent with conventional CNC milling setups. Primary material applications include ISO material groups P, M, K, S, and H, covering the full range of ferrous and difficult-to-machine alloys common in aerospace, die-mold, and precision machining shops.

Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Before loading the tool, verify the toolholder bore is clean and free of chips or burrs that could affect runout. Torque the tool to the toolholder manufacturer specifications using the appropriate pull stud or collet wrench. Confirm spindle direction and feed-rate parameters in the CNC program before engaging the cut.
