The ISCAR 3398368 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metalworking environments. Part of the ECI-5-VF series, it features a 5-flute geometry with a variable index design that helps reduce chatter and improve surface finish across roughing and finishing operations. The 0.25-inch mill diameter pairs with a 0.0150-inch corner radius to protect the cutting edge and extend tool life. An AlTiCrSiN PVD coating provides heat and wear resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. Overall length is 3 inches, with a 2-inch length of cut and a 1-inch reach. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop settings are the primary installers and users of this tool.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The extended reach and long-length configuration make it appropriate for deep-pocket milling, shoulder milling, and contour work where standard-length tooling cannot reach. The straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance ensures consistent runout in shrink-fit, collet, or hydraulic toolholders. Right-hand cutting direction with normal pitch supports conventional CNC milling setups.
Designed for use with standard toolholders accepting a 0.25-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible toolholder types include collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and hydraulic holders meeting h6 bore tolerance. Suitable for use on CNC machining centers processing steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per material codes P, M, K, S, and H.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool-change sequence is complete before handling the cutting tool. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the corner radius and cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, as carbide tooling is brittle and should not be dropped or contacted with hard surfaces during handling.
