The ISCAR 3398315 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in metalworking and machining applications. With a 0.5 inch cutting diameter and a 2.5 inch length of cut, it delivers aggressive material removal in a compact profile. The four-flute, spiral design with a 38-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. A TiAlCN finish enhances hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life in demanding cuts. The submicron grain carbide substrate provides the toughness and wear resistance required for production-level work on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. This end mill is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry.
This end mill is suited for milling operations in CNC machining centers and manual mills across job shop, toolroom, and production environments. It handles slotting, profiling, and pocketing in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar materials. The 0.5 inch shank diameter mates with standard collet chucks and end mill holders. With a right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation, it runs conventionally in standard spindle setups. The 5 inch overall length gives adequate reach for most workholding configurations without excessive overhang.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for CNC machining centers and manual milling machines accepting a 0.5 inch shank via collet, end mill holder, or shrink-fit tooling.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and machine is in an energy-isolated state before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the full recommended depth in the holder and torque the collet nut or set screw per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the tool edge and coating condition before each use; do not run a chipped or damaged end mill.
