The ISCAR 3398285 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding machining environments. With a 3/8 inch cutting diameter and a 1 inch length of cut, it delivers precise material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, hardened steels, and similar materials. The four-flute geometry combined with a 38-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and a smooth cutting action. A TiAlCN coating adds heat and wear resistance, extending tool life in high-speed and dry machining applications. This end mill is a single-end tool with a variable index design, making it a dependable choice for production machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
This end mill suits CNC milling operations in job shops, production facilities, and tool rooms. It is appropriate for slotting, peripheral milling, and profiling cuts in materials where a rigid, coated carbide tool is required. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC spindle setups. The 3/8 inch shank diameter fits standard collets and end mill holders common in vertical machining centers and mill-turn machines. The 3 inch overall length keeps the tool stable in typical setups where extended reach is not needed.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production end mill for use in CNC vertical machining centers and manual mills equipped with 3/8 inch collets or end mill holders.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder and torque the retention system to the machine or toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the collet or holder for wear or runout before use, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tools. Verify spindle speed and feed rate settings against tooling manufacturer guidelines before initiating a cut.
