The ISCAR 3398151 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill from the ECI-4-VF series, designed for demanding metal removal in both roughing and finishing operations. It features a 1/2 inch diameter, a 2-1/2 inch length of cut, and a 0.06 inch corner radius, with 4 flutes in a right-hand spiral configuration. The tool is finished with an AlTiCrSiN PVD coating applied via physical vapor deposition, which extends tool life when cutting abrasive and hard materials. Variable index geometry helps manage cutting forces and reduces chatter across a range of feed rates. The overall length is 5 inches with a 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank ground to h6 tolerance. Centercutting geometry allows plunge entries.
This end mill is rated for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The extra-long length type and extended reach make it suitable for deep-pocket milling, contour work, and finishing passes where standard-length tools cannot reach. It is a single-end, solid carbide tool intended for use in a compatible toolholder on CNC machining centers. Machinists and tooling specialists working in job shops, aerospace, die and mold, and general metalworking environments will find this geometry appropriate for high-performance applications in P, M, K, S, and H material classes. Submicron carbide grade substrate supports rigidity at extended reach lengths.
Designed for use with a compatible toolholder accepting a 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Applicable to CNC machining centers performing roughing and finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Manufacturer catalog number ECI-4 500-2.5C06VF5.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with CNC toolholder setup and runout requirements. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool change procedure follows the machine manufacturer lockout protocol before handling. Seat the shank fully in the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout at the cutting tip before initiating a cutting cycle, particularly given the extended reach length of this tool.
