The ISCAR 3398148 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for demanding material removal in both roughing and finishing operations. Part of the ECI-4-VF series, this single-end, center-cutting tool features a 1/2 inch diameter, a 1-1/4 inch length of cut, and a 0.06 inch corner radius. The submicron carbide substrate is coated with an AlTiCrSiN PVD coating via DLC-applied process, delivering high hardness and thermal resistance across a broad range of workpiece materials. With four flutes and a variable index geometry, it balances chip evacuation with surface finish quality. This tool is installed and used by machinists and toolroom technicians in CNC milling applications.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials in medium-length-reach applications. The extended reach geometry and straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance make it compatible with standard precision toolholders used in vertical and horizontal machining centers. Right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting direction are standard. The normal pitch and spiral flute type support stable cutting across a range of depths and feed rates in both roughing and finishing passes.
Designed for use with standard precision toolholders in CNC milling machines. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, S, H). Manufacturers catalog number ECI-4 500-1.25C06VF3.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in a safe state. The straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance requires a matched precision collet or milling chuck with correct bore diameter for secure clamping and runout control. Verify toolholder torque specifications per the toolholder manufacturer guidelines before running. Confirm correct cutting direction and spindle rotation match the right-hand configuration of this tool before initiating a cut.
