The ISCAR 3398005 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for demanding material removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Part of the ECI-4-VF series, it carries a 1/4 inch diameter, a 0.015 inch corner radius, and four flutes arranged in a variable index configuration. The AlTiCrSiN PVD coating delivers thermal resistance and wear protection required in high-speed and difficult-to-machine applications. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction make this a standard orientation for conventional CNC milling centers. The submicron carbide grade supports both roughing and finishing passes in a single tool, reducing changeovers on production floors.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers running ferrous and exotic alloys in job shop and production environments. The short flute length and extended reach geometry allow access to features that require clearance past the workpiece without sacrificing rigidity. At a 3 inch overall length with a 1-1/4 inch reach, it fits standard collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and hydraulic toolholders accepting a 1/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance. The centercutting design permits plunge entry, and the spiral flute type supports efficient chip evacuation in both wet and dry cutting conditions.
Designed for use with standard toolholders accepting a 1/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank with h6 diameter tolerance. Compatible with collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and hydraulic toolholders on CNC milling machines. Manufacturer catalog number ECI-4 250-500C015VF3 may be used for cross-reference with ISCAR tooling documentation.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician familiar with end mill runout requirements and toolholder torque procedures. Ensure spindle and toolholder are clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Verify tool projection and reach clearance in the setup before initiating a cut. Always follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety protocols when handling carbide cutting tools.
