The ISCAR 3336657 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI designation FFX4 XNMU 040310T in manufacturer grade IC830. Designed for high-feed face milling, this double-sided insert features an XNMU bone-shaped geometry with a negative rake angle and a T-Land cutting edge style. It measures 9.58 mm in length, 7.16 mm wide, and 3.95 mm thick, with a 1.00 mm corner radius and a maximum depth of cut of 1.20 mm. The AlTiN plus TiN Sumotec PVD coating delivers heat and wear resistance suited to demanding milling operations. Each insert provides four cutting edges and is held in the cutter body by a screw clamp method.
This insert belongs to the ISCAR LOGIQ4FEED series and is compatible with FFX4 cutter bodies. It is intended for right-hand cutting and is engineered primarily for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Typical applications include high-feed roughing and semi-finishing passes on CNC machining centers in both production shop and job-shop environments. The insert is suited to industries where difficult-to-machine materials are common, such as aerospace, energy, and general metalworking. It conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards, making it interchangeable within compliant tooling systems.
Designed for use with ISCAR FFX4 series cutter bodies. The insert size code is 040310 and the cutter series compatibility is listed as FFX4. Verify cutter body pocket specifications against the FFX4 XNMU insert geometry before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torque screwdriver or hex key specified by the cutter body manufacturer when seating the clamping screw — overtightening can fracture the insert. Inspect the pocket seating surface for chips or damage before installing a new insert, and confirm the insert is fully seated and the cutting edge orientation matches the intended right-hand cut direction.
