The ISCAR 3332672 is a laydown-style carbide threading insert designed for external UNJ thread profiles at 12 threads per inch (TPI). Manufactured from solid carbide in ISCAR grade IC806 with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, it delivers hard, wear-resistant cutting performance across a wide range of workpiece materials. The right-hand insert seats in compatible laydown threading toolholders and produces precise 60-degree UNJ thread forms used in aerospace and high-strength fastener applications. The 3/8-inch (9.52 mm) inscribed circle and 0.014-inch (0.35 mm) corner radius define the insert geometry. Installation and operation are suited for qualified CNC machinists and toolroom professionals.
This insert is intended for external threading operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. UNJ threads feature a controlled root radius that improves fatigue strength, making this insert common in aerospace, defense, and precision mechanical assemblies. It accommodates universal workpiece material classifications, including ferrous, non-ferrous, and superalloy substrates, as indicated by primary workpiece material codes H, N, and S. It is part of the ISCARTHREAD series and conforms to ISO 13399 tooling data standards, simplifying integration into CAM and tool management systems.
Designed for use in 16ER-style laydown threading toolholders within the ISCARTHREAD series that accept a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert. Verify toolholder seat geometry and clamping style before installation.
Insert installation and threading operations should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the insert. Use the correct torque wrench and clamping screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten. Confirm insert orientation and hand designation match the toolholder and programmed thread direction before resuming cutting.
