The ISCAR 3328727 is a CNMG-style carbide turning insert designed for general turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the IC830 manufacturer grade and features a multilayer PVD coating of TiAlN, AlTiN, and TiN applied using ISCAR's SumoTec proprietary process. This combination delivers a balance of wear resistance and toughness suited to interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert measures 12.90 mm in length, has an inscribed circle of 12.70 mm (0.500 inches), a thickness of 4.76 mm, and a corner radius of 1.20 mm. It is right-hand oriented with a negative side clearance and a positive rake geometry. Machinists and CNC operators install this insert as a consumable tooling component in standard CNMG insert holders.
The 3328727 is intended for roughing and medium machining operations. It is rated for use on steel (P), stainless steel (M), special and super alloys (S), and hardened materials (H) based on ISO workpiece material classifications. The M3P chip breaker geometry is optimized to manage chip flow during medium-to-heavy material removal passes, with a maximum depth of cut of 5.50 mm (0.217 inches). This insert suits production turning environments in metalworking shops where consistent tool life and reliable chip control across multiple workpiece materials are priorities.
Designed to seat in standard CNMG-style insert holders accepting a 433 ANSI size code (ISO size code 120412) with negative clearance geometry. Verify holder clamping style and seat configuration before installation.
This insert is installed and replaced by machinists or tooling technicians on CNC or manual turning equipment. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excess clamping load. Inspect the insert seat and clamping screw for damage or debris before seating a new insert.
