The ISCAR 3318610 is a laydown threading insert designed for external UN thread cutting at 20 threads per inch. It is manufactured from submicron solid carbide with a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, using the IC1007 manufacturer grade. The 3/8 inch (0.375 inch) inscribed circle and right-hand orientation make it a direct-fit solution for ISCARTHREAD-series toolholders. Machinists and CNC operators use this insert for producing unified national thread forms on turned components across a broad range of workpiece materials, including steel, cast iron, stainless, nonferrous alloys, and high-temp alloys.
This insert is suited for external threading operations on CNC lathes and turning centers in job shop, production, and contract machining environments. The IC1007 grade with PVD TiAlN coating handles universal workpiece material classifications, making it appropriate for mixed-material production runs. It is sold individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 5 units per order.
Designed for use in ISCARTHREAD-series toolholders accepting 16ER style laydown threading inserts with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle. Confirm toolholder pocket geometry and insert style code before installation.
This insert is installed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured in the turret before seating or removing the insert. Use the correct torx or clamping screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer to avoid cracking the carbide substrate. Do not exceed the clamping torque range printed in the toolholder documentation.
