The ISCAR 3314971 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI designation T890 LNHT 1306PNTR IC810, designed for use in high-productivity tangential milling operations. It features a butterfly (LNHT) insert shape with a negative rake angle and a T-Land cutting edge style, providing strong edge support when machining tough workpiece materials. The IC810 grade uses a Sumotec PVD-applied AlTiCrN plus TiN coating for heat and wear resistance. With 8 usable cutting edges on a double-sided body, this insert delivers a low per-edge cost in production environments. Thickness is 6.00 mm (0.5425 inches) and width is 6.00 mm (0.2360 inches), sized to the 1306 insert size code.
This insert is engineered primarily for milling steel and cast iron (ISO material groups P and K). It suits roughing and semi-finishing passes on vertical or horizontal machining centers where the T890 LOGIQ8TANG cutter series is in use. The PNTR chip breaker geometry manages chip flow during continuous and interrupted cuts in these materials. Maximum depth of cut reaches 9.50 mm (0.3740 inches), making it suitable for aggressive material removal cycles in both job-shop and production environments. The screw-clamp holding method ensures secure seating in the cutter body under high cutting forces.
Designed for use in ISCAR T890 series (LOGIQ8TANG) cutter bodies that accept LNHT 1306 tangential milling inserts. Confirmed compatible cutter series: T890. Verify pocket geometry and screw size against the specific cutter body before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. De-energize and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing inserts. Use the correct torque driver for the clamping screw to avoid cracking the carbide body — refer to the ISCAR toolholder documentation for the specified tightening procedure. Inspect the insert pocket seat and screw thread for chips or damage before each insert change.
