The ISCAR 3311005 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill in the HCP-IQ series, designed for high-performance hole-making in ferrous and hard materials. The tip carries an IC908 submicron carbide grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, which supports heat resistance and extended edge life in demanding drilling cycles. The drill point is self-centering at a 136-degree included angle with a web-thinned geometry and slow spiral fluting, reducing entry force and improving chip evacuation in deep-hole applications. With a cutting diameter of 1.063 inches and a functional length of 0.372 inches, this replaceable tip suits production environments where insert changeability reduces downtime without sacrificing hole accuracy.
This tip is engineered for drilling into steel and cast iron as primary workpiece materials, with secondary capability in stainless steel, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. The HCP-IQ system uses a twist-lock insert holding method that allows tip replacement in the field without removing the drill body from the spindle. Typical applications include structural component drilling, mold and die work, and general machining operations where a self-centering entry profile is required. The ISO designation for this tip is HCP 270-IQ per ISO 13399 tooling data standards.
Compatible with HCP-IQ series drill bodies accepting a 27mm insert seat size. ISO designation HCP 270-IQ. Suitable for use in steel (P), cast iron (K), stainless steel (M), super-alloys and titanium (S), and hard materials (H) per ISO workpiece material classification.
Installation is performed by machining professionals following shop-floor tooling change procedures. Ensure the drill body is fully de-energized and the spindle is locked before seating or removing the replaceable tip. Use the manufacturer-specified torque wrench or key for the twist-lock interface to avoid under- or over-torquing the tip seat. Verify runout with a dial indicator after tip installation before returning to cut.
