The ISCAR 3310523 is a carbide replaceable tip drill designed for high-performance drilling in metalworking applications. Part of the SumoCham series, this drill tip features a solid carbide construction with a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, delivering extended tool life and heat resistance. The 5mm insert seat size accepts a tip with a 0.197-inch cutting diameter and a 3.70mm (0.146-inch) height. The 140-degree included drill point angle with a thinned web point reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. A slow spiral, two-flute design with a honed cutting edge rounds out the geometry. The ICP 0197 tip is manufactured to ISCAR grade IC908 using a submicron carbide substrate. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling specialists in CNC or manual drilling setups.
This replaceable tip drill is suited for production drilling in steel as its primary workpiece material. Secondary compatible materials include stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, S, and H. The SumoCham replaceable tip system is used in job shops, production facilities, and aerospace or automotive machining environments where consistent hole quality and quick tip changeover are required without removing the drill body from the spindle.
The ISCAR 3310523 ICP 0197 tip is part of the SumoCham series and is designed to seat in compatible SumoCham drill bodies accepting a size 5 insert seat. Refer to ISCAR SumoCham body selection guides to confirm correct body pairing for your application.
Installation and tip replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before removing or seating the replaceable tip. Use the appropriate ISCAR torque key as specified by the drill body manufacturer to seat the tip correctly — do not use substitute tools that may damage the tip seating interface. Verify runout after tip installation before resuming production cutting.
