The ISCAR 3309395 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for use in high-performance face and shoulder milling operations. Carrying the IC882 grade designation, this insert features a multilayer PVD coating that combines AlTiN, TiAlSiN, and TiSiN layers to deliver hardness and heat resistance at the cutting edge. The triangular TDKT insert style provides 3 usable cutting edges per insert, and the positive rake geometry reduces cutting forces during machining. At 5.85 mm thick with a 0.80 mm corner radius, the 3309395 is built for demanding cuts in difficult-to-machine materials. Licensed HVAC techs, plumbers, and electricians will not typically install this part — it is used by machinists and CNC operators in metalworking environments.
The ISCAR 3309395 belongs to the HELI3MILL series and is compatible with HM390-15 cutter bodies. Its primary application is milling stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium — material groups M and S under ISO classification. The PDR chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation during moderate to heavy cuts. With a maximum depth of cut of 13.00 mm, this insert suits roughing and semi-finishing passes on difficult workpiece materials in both production shop and job-shop environments. The right-hand cutting orientation and screw-in holding method make setup straightforward on compatible toolholders.
Designed for use with HM390-15 series cutter bodies in the ISCAR HELI3MILL platform. Insert size code 1505 and ANSI code HM390 TDKT 1505PDR IC882 identify the exact seat geometry required. Verify cutter body compatibility against the HM390-15 toolholder specification before ordering.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key to drive the clamping screw to the recommended seating feel — do not overtighten, as solid carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excess clamp force. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
