The ISCAR 3308133 is a square-shaped SNMG carbide turning insert designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the ISCAR Isoturn series designation and features a multilayer PVD coating — TiAlN, AlTiN, and TiN — applied under the proprietary SumoTec process. The IC830 grade delivers a balance of wear resistance and toughness suited for interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert has a 0.75-inch (19.05 mm) inscribed circle, a 0.25-inch (6.35 mm) thickness, and a 0.047-inch (1.2 mm) corner radius. The GN chip breaker geometry targets roughing and medium machining operations. A licensed machinist or CNC operator installs and indexes this insert.
This insert is suited for turning steel (ISO P), stainless steel (ISO M), special and super alloys (ISO S), and hardened materials (ISO H). The negative side clearance and square geometry support heavy stock removal as well as general-purpose turning. The right-hand cutting orientation and 90-degree included angle make it compatible with standard SNMG toolholders used in production turning environments, including job shops and aerospace component manufacturing. Maximum recommended depth of cut is 0.079 inch (2.0 mm).
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for SNMG643 (ISO: SNMG190612) toolholders with a 0.75-inch inscribed circle seat. Fits standard negative-rake SNMG-style toolholders accepting a square insert with 0.25-inch thickness. ANSI insert code SNMG643; ISO insert code SNMG190612.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a full stop, locked-out state per LOTO procedures. Use the correct torque wrench and clamping screws specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not over-tighten the clamping mechanism. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamping components for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Verify correct insert orientation and hand designation match the toolholder before resuming machining.
