The ISCAR 3308132 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNMG431-GN geometry, designed for single-point turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the IC830 manufacturer grade with a multilayer PVD coating of TiAlN, AlTiN, and TiN applied under ISCARs SumoTec process, which improves edge toughness and heat resistance during interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert measures 12.90 mm in length with a 12.70 mm inscribed circle, a 4.76 mm thickness, and a 0.40 mm corner radius. It is right-hand oriented and fits standard CNMG-style toolholders. Installation and indexing are performed by machinists and CNC operators in production turning environments.
The 3308132 is suited for turning stainless steel (M), carbon and alloy steel (P), and superalloys and high-temperature alloys (S) per ISO workpiece material classifications. The GN chip breaker geometry is optimized for general-purpose turning across these material groups at moderate to aggressive cutting parameters. A maximum depth of cut of 4.00 mm supports both roughing passes and semi-finish operations. This insert is part of ISCARs Isoturn series and is sized at ISO code CNMG 431-GN, making it compatible with the broad range of commercial CNMG toolholder systems used in job shop and production machining.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard indexable insert for CNMG-style toolholders accepting a 431 insert size. Confirmed compatible workpiece material groups are ISO M (stainless steel), ISO P (carbon and alloy steel), and ISO S (superalloys and high-temperature alloys).
Indexable turning inserts are installed and indexed by machinists or CNC setup technicians. Always power down and lock out the spindle before changing or indexing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturers specified seating procedure — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the insert or damage the pocket seat. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
