The ISCAR 3308116 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TNMG style, designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. It carries the IC830 manufacturer grade and features a multilayer PVD coating combining TiAlN, AlTiN, and TiN under ISCARs proprietary SumoTec process. This coating improves wear resistance and thermal stability across a broad range of cutting speeds. The insert is right-hand oriented, measures 22 millimeters in length with a 12.7 millimeter inscribed circle, and features a 1.2 millimeter corner radius. It is 4.76 millimeters thick and conforms to the ISO 13399 standard. The GN chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation during general turning passes.
This insert is intended for turning applications on workpiece materials classified under ISO material groups M (stainless steel), P (carbon and alloy steel), and S (high-temperature alloys and titanium). It fits into the Isoturn series tooling system and is suited for roughing to semi-finishing passes with a maximum depth of cut of 4.5 millimeters. Typical installations include production turning cells, job shop lathes, and maintenance machining environments where a single insert grade needs to cover multiple workpiece materials. Installation is performed by machining professionals and CNC operators familiar with indexable insert toolholders.
Designed for use in TNMG-style indexable turning toolholders that accept a triangle insert with clearance code N, tolerance code M, and a 4.76 millimeter insert thickness. Compatible with ISO material groups M, P, and S workpiece materials per the Isoturn series application guidelines.
This insert is installed and indexed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench or clamping screw driver specified for the toolholder to avoid cracking the carbide substrate. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surfaces for chips or wear before seating a new insert.
