The ISCAR 3260097 is a SumoCham-series replaceable-tip drill body designed for precision holemaking in metalworking applications. It accepts a range of interchangeable drill-tip inserts, allowing technicians to swap cutting heads without replacing the entire tool body. The drill accommodates tip diameters from 0.709 to 0.744 inches, reaches a maximum drill depth of 2.13 inches, and features integrated through-coolant capability to manage heat and chip evacuation at the cutting zone. The 1-inch Weldon Flat shank provides positive rotational drive and is compatible with standard Weldon-style holders. With an overall length of 5.45 inches and a body length of 3.25 inches, this tool is built for machine-tool rigidity and repeatable hole quality.
This drill body is suited for production and job-shop CNC machining environments where consistent hole geometry and fast tip changeovers are priorities. It is used in drilling operations on machining centers and CNC lathes where a 3xD depth-to-diameter ratio is appropriate. The through-coolant feature makes it particularly effective in ferrous and hard-material applications where flood coolant alone is insufficient. Machinists and tooling specialists typically specify this body for medium-diameter holemaking requiring high-volume repeatability.
Compatible insert styles include FCP, ICK, ICK-2M, ICM, ICP, and iCP-2M. Designed for use with standard 1-inch Weldon Flat shank holders on CNC machining centers and similar machine tools.
Installation and tip changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and locked out per applicable safety procedures. Ensure the Weldon Flat shank is fully seated and the set screw is properly tightened in the holder before operation. Verify through-coolant lines are clear and coolant pressure is within the machine specification before running. Follow the insert manufacturer guidelines for correct tip seating and torque when mounting replaceable tips.
