The ISCAR 3260096 is a replaceable-tip drill body from the SumoCham series, designed for precision holemaking in metal cutting applications. It accepts a range of interchangeable drill tip inserts, allowing the tool body to be reused while only the cutting tip is replaced. The drill covers a diameter range of 0.472 to 0.488 inches, reaches a maximum drill depth of 1.41 inches, and features through-coolant capability to flush chips and manage heat at the cutting zone. With a 3xD depth-to-diameter ratio and a 3.98-inch overall length, this tool body suits production drilling operations where consistency and insert flexibility are priorities. It is installed in a 5/8-inch Weldon flat shank toolholder.
The ISCAR 3260096 is suited for CNC machining centers and drilling machines in job shop, production, and precision manufacturing environments. The Weldon flat shank provides a secure, anti-pullout connection in standard collet and side-lock holders. Through-coolant delivery makes it effective in materials that generate heat or produce long chips. Machinists and tooling setters handling repetitive holemaking operations in steel, cast iron, and similar materials will find this drill body a practical platform for high-volume drilling cycles.
Compatible insert styles include FCP, ICK, ICK-2M, ICM, ICP, and iCP-2M. The tool body is designed for use in the ISCAR SumoCham system with DCN-style toolholder configuration.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Secure the Weldon flat shank in a properly rated side-lock or Weldon-style holder; verify clamping torque per the machine tool manufacturer's specifications. Confirm coolant passages are clear before operation and that the selected insert tip is fully seated and locked before running. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine tool manufacturer guidelines when changing inserts or setting tool offsets.
