The ISCAR 3203212 is a SumoCham series replaceable-tip drill designed for precision holemaking in metalworking and machining applications. It accepts interchangeable drill-tip inserts, eliminating the need to replace the entire drill body when the cutting edge wears. The body uses a DCN toolholder style with a Weldon Flat shank measuring 0.63 inches in diameter, providing positive rotational drive in compatible chucks and tool holders. Drill diameter range spans 0.532 to 0.548 inches, with a maximum drill depth of 4.25 inches and an 8xD depth-to-diameter ratio. Through-coolant capability keeps the cutting zone clear and extends insert life during deep-hole operations. Overall length is 6.84 inches.
This drill body is suited for production drilling environments where consistent hole quality and fast tip changes are priorities. The replaceable-tip design is common in CNC machining centers, turning centers with live tooling, and dedicated drill presses running medium-to-high volume holemaking cycles. It is typically set up and operated by machinists and CNC operators working with steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other machinable materials. The insert seat size 13 and SumoCham system interface ensure repeatable tip indexing without precision re-boring of the seat.

Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a full stop, spindle off, and energy isolated per lockout-tagout procedures. Secure the Weldon Flat shank in a compatible side-lock or set-screw tool holder torqued according to the machine tool manufacturer specifications. Verify through-coolant passages are clear and that coolant pressure is appropriate for the depth and material before beginning the drilling cycle. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating a new tip to ensure proper seating and concentricity.
