The ISCAR 3202722 is a SumoCham-series replaceable-tip drill designed for precision holemaking in metalworking and machining applications. It accepts interchangeable cutting inserts rather than a fixed tip, allowing worn tips to be swapped quickly without removing the drill body from the spindle. The drill covers a diameter range of 0.63 to 0.665 inches, reaches a maximum drill depth of 5.04 inches, and carries an 8xD depth-to-diameter ratio. Through-coolant capability delivers cutting fluid directly to the cutting zone, extending tip life and improving chip evacuation at depth. The DCN-style toolholder body measures 8.01 inches overall length and mounts on a 0.75 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Installation and tool changes are performed by qualified machinists or CNC toolroom technicians.
This drill body is suited to production drilling on CNC machining centers and turning centers where repeatable hole quality and fast tip-change turnaround are priorities. The through-coolant design makes it well-suited for deeper holes and harder workpiece materials where heat buildup and chip packing are common failure drivers. The 8xD depth-to-diameter ratio places it in the range used for structural steel, cast iron, aluminum, and stainless applications requiring controlled hole geometry. It conforms to ISO 13399 tooling data standards, which simplifies integration with CAM software and tooling libraries used in modern CNC environments.
The 3202722 drill body accepts inserts of compatible styles FCP, ICK, ICK-2M, ICM, ICN, ICP, and iCP-2M, all using insert seat size 16. It is designed for use in the ISCAR SumoCham tooling system and fits machine spindles or toolholders accepting a 0.75 inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and tip changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician with the machine powered down and the spindle locked before any tooling adjustment. Verify shank seating and clamping torque per the machine tool manufacturer specifications before returning the spindle to operation. Confirm coolant passages are clear and through-coolant pressure is appropriate for the insert style in use before beginning a drilling cycle. Always inspect the insert seat for chips or damage before seating a new tip.
