The ISCAR 3202720 is a replaceable-tip drill body from the SumoCham series, designed for precision holemaking in metalworking and machining applications. It accepts interchangeable drill tips, eliminating the need to replace the entire tool when the cutting edge wears. The body features a straight-cylindrical shank measuring 0.625 inches in diameter and supports drill diameters ranging from 0.551 to 0.587 inches. Maximum drill depth reaches 4.41 inches, giving it an 8xD depth-to-diameter ratio. Through-coolant capability channels cutting fluid directly to the cutting zone, improving chip evacuation and tool life during deep-hole operations. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC tooling technicians in production and job-shop environments.
The 3202720 is suited for holemaking operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where consistent bore quality and fast tip changes are priorities. The DCN toolholder style and ISO 13399 compliance make it compatible with standard presetting equipment and tool management systems. With an overall length of 7.09 inches and a body length of 5.20 inches, the drill body fits a wide range of machining center setups requiring mid-range depth capacity. Seat size 14 determines the correct replacement tip geometry for this body.
Compatible insert styles for this drill body are FCP, ICK, ICK-2M, ICM, ICN, ICP, and iCP-2M, all at insert seat size 14. This body is part of the ISCAR SumoCham series using the DCN toolholder style.
This drill body is installed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians and should be secured in the machine spindle according to the machine tool manufacturer's clamping specifications. Power down and lock out the machine before inserting or removing the replaceable tip. Verify tip seating and clamping torque using the tool manufacturer's documentation before running the spindle. Through-coolant lines should be checked for proper connection and flow before initiating deep-hole cycles.
