The ISCAR 3202717 is a replaceable-tip drill body in the SumoCham series, designed for precision holemaking in metal-cutting and machining operations. The drill accepts interchangeable cutting tips, allowing worn inserts to be swapped without replacing the full body. It covers a diameter range of 0.433 to 0.469 inches with a maximum drill depth of 3.46 inches, achieving an 8xD depth-to-diameter ratio. Through-coolant capability is built in, directing coolant directly to the cutting zone to control heat and evacuate chips at depth. The 5/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard toolholders, and the overall length is 6.01 inches. This tool is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians working with CNC machining centers and drill presses.
The 3202717 is suited to production holemaking applications where consistent diameter accuracy across a range of 0.433 to 0.469 inches is required. The 8xD depth capability makes it appropriate for deeper bore applications that exceed the range of standard 3xD or 5xD drills. Its DCN toolholder style and straight-cylindrical shank suit vertical and horizontal machining centers running through-coolant programs. Compatible insert styles include FCP, ICK, ICK-2M, ICM, ICN, ICP, and iCP-2M, all at seat size 11, giving operators flexibility in cutting grade and geometry selection.
Compatible with FCP, ICK, ICK-2M, ICM, ICN, ICP, and iCP-2M replaceable cutting tips at insert seat size 11. Designed for use in DCN-style toolholders with a 5/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank interface.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Confirm the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer is disabled before mounting or removing the drill body. Seat the shank fully in the toolholder collet or chuck and torque the clamping mechanism according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify through-coolant passages are clear and aligned before running the first cycle, and confirm insert tip seating is secure before engaging the cut.
