The ISCAR 3202448 is a replaceable-tip drill body in the SumoCham series, engineered for precision holemaking in metalworking and machining applications. The drill accepts interchangeable cutting-tip inserts, allowing the body to be reused while tips are swapped out for different materials or worn-out edges. It covers a diameter range of 0.551 to 0.567 inches, reaches a maximum drill depth of 1.75 inches, and has an overall length of 4.34 inches. Through-coolant capability channels fluid directly to the cutting zone, improving chip evacuation and tool life during high-feed drilling cycles. Machinists and tooling setters working on CNC machining centers are the primary installers.
This drill body is suited for holemaking operations in production machining environments, including job shops and manufacturing cells running CNC vertical or horizontal machining centers. The flatted shank diameter of 0.625 inches seats securely in compatible tool holders, and the DCN A-3D toolholder style designation guides proper holder selection. The 1.89-inch shank length and 2.45-inch body length provide sufficient rigidity for the rated depth. Applications include general-purpose drilling in steel, cast iron, and similar workpiece materials where replaceable-tip tooling reduces downtime versus solid carbide drills.
Compatible insert styles include FCP, HCP-IQ, ICG, ICK, ICK-2M, ICM, ICN, ICP, ICP-2M, and QCP-2M. The body uses the DCN A-3D toolholder style designation. No additional compatible model numbers or system families were specified in the product data.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the drill body from the tool holder. Verify the flatted shank is fully engaged and the set screw is tightened against the flat before running the spindle. Confirm through-coolant passages are clear and coolant pressure is within the machine and tooling system specifications before beginning a drilling cycle.
