The ISCAR 3201849 is an indexable insert drill designed for through-hole and blind-hole drilling in metal fabrication and machining applications. Built on the DR-3D-N series platform, this drill body accepts two SOMT120408 indexable inserts and delivers a maximum drill depth of 4.13 inches at a 3xD depth-to-diameter ratio. The tool measures 8.42 inches in overall length with a 1.5-inch straight Weldon Flat and Flange shank for secure spindle engagement. Coolant is delivered axially through the body via concentric entry, supporting chip evacuation and tool life in demanding cutting conditions. The steel body is engineered for general-purpose drilling at 1-3/8 inch diameter.
This drill is suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills in industrial, production, and job-shop environments. The right-hand cutting direction and Weldon Flat shank make it compatible with standard milling machine spindles and toolholding systems. With a flute length of 4.13 inches and a body length of 5.42 inches, it handles typical through-hole and deep-hole drilling cycles in steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous workpiece materials. The modular connection size is 1-1/2 inches, and the collar diameter measures 1.969 inches.
Compatible with drill style DR toolholding and accepts SOMT120408 indexable inserts. The insert lock screw specification is SR 14-544/S. Modular connection size is 1-1/2 inches. Verify spindle toolholding compatibility with Weldon Flat and Flange straight-shank toolholders before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing inserts. Ensure the shank is fully engaged in the toolholder and that all clamping screws are torqued per the toolholder manufacturer specifications before beginning a cutting cycle. Confirm coolant-through lines are clear and connected before running at full feed and speed.
