The ISCAR 3103597 is an indexable ball nose end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal-cutting environments. Built from solid carbide, this tool accepts HBR-QF and HCR style inserts secured by a screw-holding method, making insert changes straightforward in production settings. The 3/8-inch cutting diameter and 6-inch overall length accommodate deep-reach milling applications where a standard-length tool would not reach. The tapered neck design reduces deflection and improves rigidity in cavity and contour milling. This tool is part of ISCAR's BallPlus series and is installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians in job shop and production machining environments.
The 3103597 is suited for milling operations requiring a ball nose profile, including 3D contouring, cavity milling, and finishing passes on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 1/2-inch cylindrical shank provides a standard interface compatible with common collet chucks and end mill holders. With a 2-inch head length and single-flute ball nose insert configuration, the tool is optimized for controlled chip evacuation and surface finish in deeper pockets or sloped surfaces. It is typically deployed on vertical machining centers and CNC mills where ISO 13399 tooling data standards are used for tool presetting and machine integration.
Designed for use with HBR-QF and HCR compatible inserts. Toolholder style is HCM D.38. No Weldon flat; cylindrical shank only. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and power is locked out before changing inserts or mounting the tool in a holder. Use a calibrated torque driver when seating the insert screw to avoid over-torquing the carbide insert. Verify tool projection and runout with a presetter or dial indicator before beginning a cut.
