The ISCAR 3103057 is an indexable ball nose end mill from the DropMill series, designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It features a 1.5-inch cutting diameter, a solid carbide body, and a 10-inch overall length, providing reach and rigidity for demanding applications. The tool accepts BCR D1.50 inserts secured by a screw-lock holding method and is configured with a tapered neck for clearance in deep-pocket and contour milling. Through-coolant capability allows direct coolant delivery to the cutting zone, supporting chip evacuation and extended insert life. Licensed machinists and tooling technicians are the primary installers and operators of this tool.
This end mill suits vertical and horizontal machining centers running interpolated contour work, ball-nose profiling, and semi-finish to finish milling passes. The Weldon flat shank provides positive drive engagement in collet chucks and end mill holders rated for 1.5-inch shanks. With two ball nose inserts and a 1.33-inch maximum depth of cut, the 3103057 is configured for controlled, moderate stepover passes in mold, die, and general-purpose part machining environments. It conforms to ISO 13399 tooling data standards, supporting integration with CAM and tooling management systems.
Designed to accept BCR D1.50 indexable ball nose inserts. The BCM toolholder style (catalog number BCM D1.50-B-W1.50-C) fits standard end mill holders and collet chucks with a 1.5-inch bore. Confirm holder and insert compatibility against ISCAR DropMill series documentation before setup.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out per facility LOTO procedures. Torque insert screws using the appropriate ISCAR key to the torque value specified in the current ISCAR DropMill tooling guide — do not use values from other series. Verify shank seating and Weldon flat alignment in the holder before clamping. Through-coolant lines should be confirmed clear and at the correct pressure for the machining center before running.
