The ISCAR 2801872 is an external right-hand indexable grooving toolholder designed for precision grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the MAH toolholder style within the Modular Grip series, it accepts indexable grooving inserts secured by a clamp-style holding method. The shank measures 1 inch wide by 1 inch tall with an overall length of 5 inches, making it a rigid, compact setup for external grooving work. Through-coolant capability delivers cutting fluid directly to the insert tip, supporting tool life and chip evacuation in demanding turning applications. This toolholder conforms to ISO 13399 standards and weighs 1.749 pounds.
This toolholder is suited for external non-face grooving on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces in production turning environments. The right-hand cutting direction makes it a standard fit for conventional lathe setups where the spindle rotates counterclockwise when viewed from the tailstock. The Modular Grip series design allows compatibility with modular tooling systems, offering repeatable insert positioning for shops running tight-tolerance groove profiles. Machinists and CNC setup technicians in job shops and production facilities are the primary installers of this style of toolholder.
Designed as an OEM-style indexable grooving toolholder within the ISCAR Modular Grip series, compatible with indexable grooving inserts specified for MAH-style toolholders. Confirm insert geometry and width specifications against your application requirements before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the toolholder from the turret. Ensure the turret pocket bore and shank dimensions match before seating the holder, and torque all clamping screws to the machine or toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify through-coolant port alignment with the machine turret coolant supply before running the spindle.
