The ISCAR 2801780 is a right-hand indexable grooving toolholder designed for precision groove turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the Cut Grip series standard, this GEHI-style toolholder accepts GEMI and GEPI series inserts secured by a clamp holding method. It supports groove widths from 0.095 inches to 0.126 inches with a maximum depth of cut of 0.157 inches and an overall length of 6 inches. Through-coolant capability is integrated, with a 6 millimeter coolant hole diameter, enabling direct coolant delivery to the cutting zone for improved chip evacuation and tool life. This toolholder is intended for use by machinists and toolroom professionals working with a broad range of workpiece materials.
The 2801780 is suited for internal grooving applications on small-bore workpieces. The minimum bore diameter is 0.787 inches and the maximum bore depth is 0.315 inches, making it appropriate for shallow internal groove work in production and job-shop turning environments. The center-to-cutting-edge dimension is 0.640 inches. This toolholder is compatible with universal workpiece material groups including ISO material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous alloys, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials.
Compatible inserts include GEMI 3002M, GEPI 2.47-0.20, GEPI 2.5-MT0.05, GEPI 2.5-WT0.05, GEPI 2.50-0.10, GEPI 2.50-0.20, GEPI 2.70-0.20, GEPI 3.00-0.20, GEPI 3.00-1.50, and GEPI 3.18-1.59. Compatible insert size codes include GEMI, GEMI (Full Radius), GEPI, GEPI (Full Radius), GEPI-MT, and GEPI-WT. Manufacturer cross-reference number: GEHIR/L 15.9-20-3-T8.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Shut down the machine and lock out all power before changing or indexing inserts. Confirm bore clearance dimensions against the minimum bore diameter of 0.787 inches before mounting to avoid interference. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and ISCAR tooling guidelines for proper insert clamping torque and toolholder retention.
