The ISCAR 2800781 is an external indexable grooving and cut-off toolholder in the Cut Grip series, designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It accepts GI.. style inserts via a clamp-style holding method and supports groove widths from 0.236 to 0.315 inches with a maximum depth of cut of 1.26 inches. The left-hand configuration suits applications where conventional right-hand access is restricted. The 1.25-inch square shank and 7.0-inch overall length provide rigid setup with predictable tool reach. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary installers of this toolholder.
This toolholder is suited for external grooving and cut-off work in production turning environments, including both light and medium-duty applications on steel, alloy, and non-ferrous workpieces. The Cut Grip series clamp design maintains insert position under interrupted cuts and high-feed conditions. It is commonly installed in gang-tooling setups and turret positions where left-hand orientation is required to address workholding or spindle-direction constraints. It is not designed for full-radius grooving applications.
Compatible insert size codes include GIA-K, GIF, GIF-E, GIM-C, GIM-J, GIM-J-RA/LA, GIM-UT-RA/LA, GIM-W, GIM-W-RA/LA, GIMF, GIMN, GIMT, GIMY, GIMY-F, GIP, GIP-E, GIPA, GIPM-A46 / GIP-1250, GIPY, GITM, TIP-MT, TIP-P-BSPT, TIP-P-BSW, TIP-P-ISO, TIP-P-NPT, TIP-P-UN, and TIP-WT. Verified complete insert compatibility includes GIF 6.00E-0.40, GIF 6.00E-0.80, GIF 6.00E-1.20, GIF 6.35-0.50, GIF 6.35-0.55, GIM 6C, GIMF 605, GIMF 608, GIMF 808, and GIMY 808.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Verify that the machine turret or tool block is fully de-energized and the spindle is locked before mounting or removing the toolholder. Confirm shank seating and torque fasteners to the machine manufacturer's specification for the turret type in use. Because this toolholder does not feature coolant-through capability, ensure external coolant lines are properly directed at the cutting zone before resuming operation.
