The ISCAR 2800720 is an external right-hand indexable grooving toolholder from the Cut Grip series, PHG style. It accepts GDMW 2.4 inserts secured by a clamp-style holding method, making insert changes straightforward on the machine. The toolholder delivers a maximum depth of cut of 17mm (0.6693 inches) and accommodates groove widths from 2.4mm to 3.18mm (0.0945 to 0.1252 inches). With an overall length of 110mm (4.3307 inches) and a square 16mm x 16mm (0.6299 x 0.6299 inches) shank, this toolholder fits standard static toolholding setups on CNC lathes and turning centers. It is intended for installation by machinists and CNC operators in production or job-shop environments.
This toolholder is designed for external, non-face grooving operations on workpieces up to 34mm (1.3386 inches) in maximum diameter. It supports universal primary workpiece material compatibility, covering ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S, meaning it handles steel, stainless, cast iron, non-ferrous materials, high-temp alloys, and hardened materials with the appropriate GDMW 2.4 insert grade selection. Typical applications include OD grooving, parting-adjacent cuts, and profile grooving on turned components in both light and moderate-duty turning operations.
Designed to accept GDMW 2.4 series grooving inserts. Conforms to ISO 13399 standards. Compatible with right-hand external grooving applications on CNC turning centers equipped with static square-shank toolholding in 16mm block size.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is in a safe index position before mounting or removing the toolholder. Seat the shank fully in the toolholding block and torque clamping screws per the machine tool manufacturer specifications. Verify insert seating and orientation before taking a test cut, and confirm coolant-through is not required as this toolholder does not support internal coolant delivery.
