The ISCAR 2800712 is a GHDK-style indexable grooving toolholder designed for internal or external grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It accepts GDM.. 840 and GIDA 8.. series inserts secured by a clamp-style holding method, providing rigid, repeatable insert positioning. The toolholder handles a maximum depth of cut of 0.75 inches with a fixed groove width of 0.315 inches. Overall length is 7 inches, and the square shank measures 1.25 inches by 1.25 inches, fitting standard static or live tooling blocks. This is a right-hand cutting direction holder from the ISCAR Cut Grip series, suited for universal workpiece materials across multiple material groups.
The ISCAR 2800712 is used in both internal and external grooving applications on turning machines where precise groove width control is required. The 0.315-inch groove width and 0.75-inch maximum depth make it suitable for groove-and-part-off routines, retaining ring grooves, and undercut operations on a wide range of materials including steel, stainless, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, and heat-resistant superalloys. The shank length of 5.27 inches provides adequate reach for most tooling block configurations. The back-of-bar to cutting edge dimension is 1.56 inches, and head length is 1.73 inches, supporting accurate tool offset entry at setup.
Compatible inserts include GDMA 840, GDMY 840, GIDA 80-40, GIDA 80-40-D, GIDA 80-40CB-D, GIDA 80-40YZ, and GIDA 80-40YZ-D. Insert size codes are GDMA and GIPA/GIDA 8 (Full Radius). This toolholder is part of the ISCAR Cut Grip series and is designed for use with 1.25-inch square shank tooling blocks on CNC turning equipment.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Before mounting, ensure the machine turret or tooling block is fully de-energized and the spindle is locked out per shop safety procedures. Seat the shank fully into the tooling block and torque all clamping fasteners according to the machine manufacturer's specifications. Insert seating surfaces should be clean and free of chips before loading any compatible GDMA or GIDA 8.. insert.
