The ISCAR 2800611 is an external left hand indexable grooving toolholder designed for precision grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the GHG toolholder style within the Cut Grip series, it accepts GI.. and TIP.. series inserts secured by a clamp-style holding method. The toolholder handles groove widths from 0.016 inches to 0.094 inches and reaches a maximum depth of cut of 1.34 inches. With a square shank measuring 0.75 inches by 0.75 inches and an overall length of 4.5 inches, it is suited for shop-floor machinists and tool-and-die professionals working with a broad range of workpiece materials. The design conforms to ISO 13399 standards for cutting tool data representation.
This toolholder is intended for external, non-face grooving in left hand cutting direction applications. It is applicable across universal workpiece material groups, including material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous alloys, heat-resistant superalloys, and hardened materials. Typical install scenarios include OD grooving, undercut operations, and parting-prep grooves on turned components in both job shop and production environments. Coolant-through capability is not available on this toolholder, so external flood or mist coolant should be directed at the cutting zone during use.
Compatible insert families include GI.. and TIP.. series inserts. Compatible insert size codes are GIM, GIMF, GIMN, GIMT, and GIMY. Maximum workpiece diameter is 1.34 inches.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a fully powered-down and locked-out state before toolholder mounting or insert changes. The shank should be clamped securely in the turret or tool block using appropriate torque per the machine tool manufacturer's specifications. Verify insert seating and clamp engagement before resuming operation. Since coolant-through is not supported, confirm that external coolant delivery is correctly aimed at the cutting edge to manage heat and chip evacuation.
