The ISCAR 2800450 is an external right hand indexable grooving toolholder in the Cut Grip series, GHM style. It is designed for non-face external grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The toolholder accepts GI-series inserts secured by a clamp-type holding method, delivering rigid, repeatable insert positioning. Key dimensional specs include a 6-inch overall length, a 1-inch by 1-inch square shank, and a maximum depth of cut of 0.189 inches with a maximum groove width of 0.25 inches. The back-of-bar to cutting edge measurement is 0.94 inches. This toolholder is intended for installation and use by CNC machinists and toolroom professionals in production turning environments.
The ISCAR 2800450 is suited for external grooving on a wide range of workpiece materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, K, N, S, and H. The GHM-style head and Cut Grip clamping system are well matched to production grooving applications where insert change speed and groove accuracy are priorities. The toolholder is marked as a multi-use tool and complies with ISO 13399 tooling data standards, making it compatible with CAM and tool management software that references that standard.
The 2800450 is compatible with the following ISCAR GI-series insert families: GIA-K (width 0.118 to 0.236 inches), GIF, GIF Full Radius, GIF-E (width 0.157 to 0.236 radius), GIF-E (width 0.157 to 0.236), GIG, GIM-C, GIM-J, GIM-J-RA/LA, GIM-UT, GIM-UT-RA/LA, GIM-W, GIM-W-RA/LA, GIMF, GIMN, GIMT, GIMY, GIMY Full Radius, GIMY-F, GIP, GIP Full Radius, and GIP. Specific compatible insert grades include GIF 3.48-0.20, GIF 3.56-0.20, GIF 3.74-0.20, GIF 3.98-0.20, GIF 4.00E-0.40, GIF 4.00E-0.60, GIF 4.00E-0.80, GIF 4.23-0.10, GIF 5.00E-0.40, GIF 5.00E-0.60, GIG 1.04-0.00, GIG 1.20-0.00, GIG 1.25-0.10, GIG 1.40-0.00, GIG 1.45-0.10, GIM 2.4, GIM 3, and GIM 3.2.
This toolholder is installed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before inserting or changing inserts. Ensure the shank bore and toolholder contact surfaces are clean and free of chips before clamping into the turret. Follow the machine tool manufacturer torque specifications for turret clamping screws, and verify tool overhang and insert seating before resuming cuts.
