The ISCAR 2800439 is an external right-hand indexable grooving toolholder designed for precision groove turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Part of the Cut Grip series with a GHM toolholder style, it accepts a wide range of GI-family inserts secured by a clamp-style holding method. The toolholder features a 12 mm x 12 mm square shank with an overall length of 110 mm, supports a maximum depth of cut of 4.8 mm, and accommodates grooves up to 4.8 mm wide. It is suited for universal workpiece materials across multiple ISO material groups. Machining professionals and toolroom technicians install this holder for external grooving, parting, and related turning operations.
The 2800439 is applied in external grooving and cut-off operations on turning centers and manual lathes. Its 85 mm shank length and 25 mm head length allow for consistent tool projection and rigid setup in standard tool post or VDI-style turret blocks. The universal material compatibility spans ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S, making it suitable for machining steel, stainless, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, and heat-resistant superalloys. The multi-use tool designation allows a single holder to serve across multiple insert profiles within the compatible GI insert family.
The 2800439 accepts GI-family inserts. Compatible insert families include GIA-K, GIF, GIF Full Radius, GIF-E, GIG, GIM-C, GIM-J, GIM-J-RA/LA, GIM-UT, GIM-UT-RA/LA, GIM-W, GIM-W-RA/LA, GIMF, GIMN, GIMT, GIMY, GIMY Full Radius, GIMY-F, GIP, and GIP Full Radius. Specific compatible insert size codes include GIF 3.48-0.20, GIF 3.56-0.20, GIF 3.74-0.20, GIF 3.98-0.20, GIF 4.00E-0.40, GIF 4.00E-0.60, GIF 4.00E-0.80, GIF 4.23-0.10, GIG 1.04-0.00, GIG 1.20-0.00, GIG 1.25-0.10, GIG 1.40-0.00, GIG 1.45-0.10, GIM 2.4, GIM 3, GIM 3.2, GIM 3C, GIM 4, and GIM 4C.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before inserting or indexing cutting inserts. Seat the shank fully in the tool post or turret block and verify torque on all clamping screws per the machine tool manufacturer specifications before starting any cut. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp components for wear or debris at each insert change.
