The ISCAR 2800300 is a left-hand internal indexable grooving toolholder engineered for precision internal grooving operations on CNC turning centers and lathes. Built to the GHI toolholder style within ISCARs Cut Grip series, it accepts a range of indexable inserts including GIFI, GIMY, GINI, GIPI, and TIPI families via a secure clamp-style insert holding method. The toolholder handles groove widths from 0.098 inches to 0.157 inches with a maximum depth of cut of 0.197 inches. Overall length is 8 inches with a 1-inch diameter shank, making it suitable for internal bore grooving in a variety of production turning applications.
This toolholder is designed for internal, non-face grooving applications in both job-shop and production environments. It requires a minimum hole diameter of 0.984 inches for entry. The 6-inch shank length provides adequate reach for deep-bore grooving setups. The primary workpiece material classification is universal, covering ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S, which correspond to hardened materials, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous alloys, carbon and alloy steels, and heat-resistant superalloys. The center-to-cutting-edge dimension is 0.690 inches, a key reference for setup calculations on the machine tool.
Compatible insert families include GIFI, GIFI-E, GIFI-E Full Radius, GIMIY, GINI-E, GIPI, GIPI Full Radius, GIPI Full Radius W less than M, GIPI-E, GIPI-RX/LX, TIPI-MT, and TIPI-WT. Manufacturer catalog reference: GHIL 25.4-4. Also referenced as GHIR/L 25.4-4.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down the machine and verify zero energy state before changing tooling. Secure the shank to the specified torque per the machine tool manufacturers requirements using the appropriate boring bar holder or turret block. Confirm insert seating, clamp engagement, and tool offset entry in the control before resuming cutting operations.
