The ISCAR 2800262 is an external, right-hand indexable grooving and cutoff toolholder in the Cut Grip series, designed for use with GI-style inserts on CNC lathes and turning centers. It accepts a groove width range of 0.15 to 0.19 inches and delivers a maximum depth of cut of 0.79 inches. The shank measures 0.75 inches square by 3.10 inches in length, with an overall tool length of 4.50 inches, fitting standard toolpost and VDI-style turret blocks common in production turning environments. The clamp-style insert holding method provides rigid, repeatable insert location for consistent part dimensions across high-volume cutoff and grooving operations. Licensed machinists and CNC toolroom technicians are the primary users of this toolholder.
This toolholder is suited for external grooving and cutoff operations on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces in both job-shop and production turning settings. The GHGR 19-4 designation indicates a right-hand orientation, making it compatible with conventional front-facing turret setups on horizontal lathes. The 0.69-inch back-of-bar to cutting edge dimension and 1.40-inch head length accommodate typical part clearance requirements in medium-diameter turning applications. The toolholder does not include coolant-through capability, so external coolant delivery should be planned during setup.
Compatible insert size codes include GIA-K, GIF, GIF-E, GIM-C, GIM-J, GIM-J-RA/LA, GIM-UT-RA/LA, GIM-W, GIM-W-RA/LA, GIMF, GIMN, GIMT, GIMY, GIMY-F, GIP, GIP-E, GIPA, GIPM-A46/GIP-1250, GIPY, GITM, TIP-MT, TIP-P-BSPT, TIP-P-BSW, TIP-P-ISO, TIP-P-NPT, TIP-P-UN, and TIP-WT. Specific verified compatible inserts include GIF 3.98-0.20, GIF 4.00E-0.40, GIF 4.00E-0.60, GIF 4.00E-0.80, GIF 4.23-0.10, GIF 4.45-0.15, GIF 4.78-0.55, GIM 4, GIM 4C, and GIM 4J.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician with the machine powered off and the spindle locked before mounting or indexing inserts. Torque the insert clamp screw using the appropriate ISCAR torx key to the manufacturer-specified value found in the tool documentation supplied with the insert. Verify shank seating depth and overhang against the part program before first cut. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut specification, as overloading the toolholder can cause insert fracture or workpiece ejection.
