The ISCAR 2800162 is an external, right-hand indexable grooving and cut-off toolholder in the Cut Grip series, designed for use on CNC lathes and turning centers in metalworking applications. It accepts GI, GPV, and TIP series inserts secured by a clamp-style insert holding method, providing repeatable insert location and rigid support during grooving and parting operations. The toolholder handles a groove width range of 0.26 to 0.327 inches and a maximum depth of cut of 1 inch. The shank measures 1 inch square by 6 inches in length, fitting standard lathe tool posts and turrets sized for 1-inch square shank tooling. It conforms to ISO 13399 standards for cutting tool data representation.
This toolholder is suited for external grooving and cut-off operations on lug, bar, and workpiece stock held in a turning center or engine lathe. Typical applications include producing retaining ring grooves, undercuts, and full part separation (parting off). The right-hand designation means the tool cuts with the spindle rotating in the conventional forward direction. It is sized for production and job-shop environments where repeatable groove geometry and secure insert clamping are priorities. Coolant-through is not supported on this holder.

Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Before mounting the toolholder, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped, the machine is in an E-stop state, and the turret or tool post is locked out per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Use a calibrated torque wrench when securing the shank in the tool post or turret block to avoid distorting the shank or damaging the clamping interface. Verify insert seating and clamp screw engagement before initiating any cutting cycle.
