The ISCAR 2800154 is a right-hand indexable grooving and cutoff toolholder in the Cut Grip series, designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It accepts GI, GPV, and TIP series inserts secured by a clamp-style holding method, providing rigid, repeatable insert location. The toolholder handles groove widths from 0.157 to 0.197 inches and delivers a maximum depth of cut of 0.4 inches. The 0.75-inch square shank and 4.5-inch overall length suit standard OD turning setups. Machinists and toolroom technicians specify this holder for high-volume turning applications where consistent groove geometry and quick insert changes are required.
This toolholder is intended for external grooving and cutoff work in production turning environments, including job shops, production floors, and toolrooms running steel, stainless, cast iron, and non-ferrous materials. The GHD-style head geometry is matched to the Cut Grip insert system, which covers a broad range of grooving profiles including full-radius, flat-top, threading, and profiling inserts. It is suited to machines with 0.75-inch toolholder pockets and standard OD tool stations.
Accepts GI, GPV, and TIP series inserts. Compatible insert size codes include GIA-K, GIG, GIM-C, GIM-J, GIM-J-RA/LA, GIM-UT-RA/LA, GIM-W, GIM-W-RA/LA, GIMN, GIMT, GIMY, GIMY-F, GIP, GIP flat top W, GIP full radius W, GIP-E, GIP-UN, GIPA, GIPM-A46 / GIP-1250, GIPY, GITM, GPV, TIP-MT, TIP-P-BSPT, TIP-P-BSW, TIP-P-ISO, and TIP-P-NPT. Coolant-through delivery is not supported on this holder.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the toolholder. Seat the 0.75-inch shank fully in the tool block or turret pocket and torque the clamping screws per the machine tool manufacturer's specification. Verify insert seating and clamping force before returning the machine to service. Follow applicable shop safety procedures for indexable tooling changes.
