The ISCAR 2800141 is an external right-hand indexable grooving toolholder designed for precision grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the Cut Grip series GHD toolholder style, it accepts GI.. series inserts secured by a clamp-style insert holding method. The toolholder handles groove widths from 0.016 inches up to 0.125 inches, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.32 inches. With an overall length of 4.5 inches, a 0.5 inch by 0.5 inch square shank, and a 3.5-inch shank length, it fits standard tool blocks on small to mid-size turning machines. It conforms to ISO 13399 standards for tooling data representation.
This toolholder is suited for external grooving applications on a broad range of workpiece materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, K, N, S, and H. It is appropriate for production turning environments where consistent, repeatable groove geometry is required. The multi-use designation confirms the toolholder supports multiple compatible insert geometries across the GI.. insert family, making it a versatile holder for shops running varied grooving profiles on a single setup.
Compatible insert size codes include GIA-K (W=0.118-0.236 inches), GIF, GIF Full Radius, GIF-E (W=0.157-0.236 inches radius), GIF-E (W=0.157-0.236 inches), GIG, GIM-C, GIM-J, GIM-J-RA/LA, GIM-UT, GIM-UT-RA/LA, GIM-W, GIM-W-RA/LA, GIMF, GIMN, GIMT, GIMY, GIMY Full Radius, GIMY-F, GIP, GIP Full Radius W less than M, and GIP. Complete insert compatibility includes GIG 1.04-0.00, GIG 1.20-0.00, GIG 1.25-0.10, GIG 1.40-0.00, GIG 1.45-0.10, GIM 2.2J, GIM 2.4, GIM 3, GIM 3C, GIM 3J, and GIMY 304.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine before mounting or indexing inserts. Seat the shank securely in the tool block and verify clamping torque per the machine tool manufacturer specification before starting a cut. Coolant-through is not supported on this holder, so direct coolant delivery must be arranged externally if required.
