This toolholder is suited for external grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It is designed for applications requiring consistent, repeatable groove profiles across ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The Heli-Grip series targets production environments where quick insert indexing and secure clamping reduce cycle time. Back of bar to cutting edge measures 0.69 inches, and head length is 1.7 inches, supporting reach into tighter workpiece configurations. Its multi-use designation allows it to handle a variety of grooving tasks without retooling.
Compatible inserts include DGL 4003C-4D, DGN 4003C, DGN 4003J, DGN 4003JT, DGR 4003C-4D, GRIP 4002Y, GRIP 4004Y, GRIP 4020Y, GRIP 476-080Y, and GRIP 476-238Y. Insert size codes DG.-4 and GRIP-4 apply. Primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S are supported.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Before mounting the toolholder, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out per your facility lockout-tagout procedure. Secure the shank in the turret or tool block to the machine manufacturer's specified clamping torque using appropriate toolholder fasteners. Verify insert seating and clamp engagement before initiating any cutting cycle.
