The ISCAR 2500527 is an external, right-hand indexable grooving toolholder in the Heli-Grip series, designed for precision grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It accepts DG.-4 and GRIP-4 series inserts secured by a clamp-style holding method, and accommodates groove widths from 0.157 inches to 0.187 inches. The shank measures 0.75 inches by 0.75 inches with a 3.8-inch shank length and an overall length of 5.5 inches. This toolholder is rated for universal workpiece material compatibility, making it suitable across a broad range of metals and non-metals. It is intended for use by machinists and CNC technicians in production and job-shop turning environments.
This toolholder is suited for external grooving applications on workpieces up to 1.97 inches in maximum diameter. The Heli-Grip series is commonly applied in both light and medium-duty turning operations where consistent groove geometry and repeatable insert indexing are required. The 0.69-inch back-of-bar to cutting edge dimension and the 1.7-inch head length support clearance in tight setups. Compatible workpiece material codes include H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering cast iron, non-ferrous, stainless, general steel, and heat-resistant alloys.
Compatible inserts include DGL 4003C-4D, DGN 4003C, DGN 4003J, DGN 4003JT, DGR 4003C-4D, GRIP 4002Y, GRIP 4004Y, GRIP 4020Y, GRIP 476-080Y, and GRIP 476-238Y. Insert size codes DG.-4 and GRIP-4 apply. Designed for use in the ISCAR Heli-Grip toolholder system.
Installation and insert changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a stopped, locked-out, and tagged-out state per applicable OSHA lockout-tagout procedures. Ensure the shank is properly seated and clamped in the turret or tool block before operation. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for wear or debris before indexing or replacing inserts. Follow the machine tool manufacturer torque guidance for turret mounting hardware.
