The ISCAR 2500342 is an internal right-hand indexable grooving toolholder designed for precision grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the Heliface series, this HFI-style toolholder accepts a range of DGN and GRIP-family inserts secured by screw clamping. It handles groove widths from 0.157 inches to 0.236 inches with a maximum depth of cut of 0.197 inches. The 8-inch overall length and 1-inch shank diameter provide rigid setup in standard lathe turrets. Through-coolant capability directs cutting fluid directly to the cutting zone, supporting tool life and chip evacuation in demanding applications. Installed by CNC machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
This toolholder is suited for internal grooving in a wide range of workpiece materials, classified under universal material groups including ISO material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Typical applications include groove turning in bores on production and job-shop lathes where consistent groove geometry and repeatable insert indexing are required. The right-hand cutting direction and non-face grooving configuration make it appropriate for standard bore grooving operations. The center-to-cutting-edge dimension measures 0.450 inches, a critical value for bore clearance planning.
Compatible insert size codes include DGN-MF, DGN-W, DGN/DGNC/DGNM-C, DGN/DGNM-J/JS/JT, GRIP, GRIP (Full Radius), HFPR/L, HFPR/L (Full Radius), and HGPL. Toolholder is part of the ISCAR Heliface series and conforms to ISO 13399 interface standards.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom personnel. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or indexing the toolholder. Verify bore clearance using the 0.450-inch center-to-cutting-edge dimension before committing to a setup. Confirm insert size code compatibility before seating and torquing the clamping screw per the insert manufacturer's specification sheet.
