The ISCAR 2301936 is a left-hand indexable grooving and cutoff toolholder from the Do-Grip series, designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It accepts DGN and DGNM series inserts, secured by a clamp-style holding method for rigid, repeatable edge positioning. The toolholder features through-coolant capability, directing cutting fluid directly to the cutting zone for improved chip evacuation and tool life. Key dimensional specs include a 0.75-inch square shank, an overall length of 5.5 inches, and a maximum depth of cut of 0.787 inches. It is installed and serviced by machinists and tool-room technicians working in metal-cutting production environments.
This toolholder is suited for external grooving and parting operations in both production and job-shop turning environments. The left-hand orientation makes it appropriate for specific machine configurations or back-turning setups. Groove widths from 0.118 to 0.125 inches are achievable depending on insert selection. The Do-Grip clamping design provides stable insert seating during interrupted cuts and high-feed parting applications. Shops running stainless, alloy steels, or aluminum with tight groove tolerances benefit from the through-coolant delivery built into this holder.
Compatible inserts include DGN 3000P, DGN 3002Z, DGN 3003UA, DGN 3003UT, DGN 3100JS, DGN 3102C, DGN 3102J, DGN 3102JT, DGN 3202J, DGNC 3102C, DGNM 3202C, and DGNM 3202J. Insert size codes DGN/DGNM-J/JS/JT and DGR/L-J/JS are supported per supplier specification.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or indexing inserts. Ensure the shank seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before torquing the holder into the turret or tool block. Connect coolant supply lines per machine tool builder specifications before running through-coolant operations.
