The ISCAR 2301909 is a left-hand indexable grooving and cutoff toolholder in the Tang-Grip series, designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It accepts TAG 3 inserts using a mechanical clamp holding method, providing rigid, repeatable insert seating. The toolholder accommodates a groove width range of 2.8 to 3.5 mm and delivers a maximum depth of cut of 16 mm. The shank measures 0.625 inches square, making it compatible with standard toolpost and turret positions commonly found in production turning environments. Machinists and CNC lathe operators handling cutoff and grooving work are the primary installers.
This toolholder is suited for external grooving and cutoff applications in both production and job-shop turning environments. It is designed for use on CNC lathes where left-hand tooling orientation is required, such as gang-tool setups or rear-turret configurations. The overall length of 5.906 inches fits standard tool blocks in typical 16 mm class holders. Coolant-through capability is not supported on this model, so external coolant delivery should be used when machining heat-sensitive materials or achieving tight surface finish requirements.
Accepts TAG 3 inserts. Compatible insert size codes include TAG N-A, TAG N-C/W/M, TAG N-J/JS/JT, TAG N-LF, TAG N-UT, TAG R/L-C, and TAG R/L-J/JS. Part of the ISCAR Tang-Grip series, style TGT, for external grooving and cutoff operations.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the turret or toolpost de-energized before inserting or indexing inserts. Verify that the shank seating surfaces and toolpost bore are clean and free of chips before torquing the holder into position. Follow the machine tool manufacturer's clamping specifications for the tool block or turret station.
